Rub the liquid between your fingers and if has a slightly greasy quality then it is a sure sign that there is still cleaning fluid in the line. A few years ago some idiot put the cleaner straight through the system without the water and served a pint of cleaning fluid. The punter lost half his stomach and can't eat solids. Spill some on your jeans and will burn right through.

Thats what some folk enjoy, it gives people a choice.
Well said Jeff!

Have I slipped into some parallel universe where people dislike cheap, strong beer in a traditional setting??

They have a ancient £25 in the one near me and i got tops for £35 and the whole pub turned around when it came out but i know the landlady so she wasnt bothered On the plus side the Ayingerbrau / Alpine is only £1.68 a pint and i remeber in 1998 it was £1.44 a pint so thats a 24p increase in 11 years lol

No music, No TV, No pool and cheap beer is the Spoons formula which seems to be sucessful as they are the only pub chain still expanding. On the other hand noisy chav-ridden shit-holes like Yates's have closed a large number of theirs.

Except they do have TVs and live sport in all of them now! And music in all the Lloyds as well...

I'm sure it hasn't escaped peoples attention that whilst wanting to appear a real pub, spoons have a ridiculous amount of fruits onsite - I know one pub with 7 and one with 8!

i was in a pub the other day which had skinned a leopard to dress the pool table.

yeah it was pretty cool except some dozy doris had spilled her vodka lime and soda all over it. and there was no quiz machine so no real interest. (much like this post.)
