I went round to my local HSBC branch and asked whether there is any limit to the amount of pound coins I could hand over the counter in any one transaction, and they said '.. of course not, as long as they're all bagged up'.

So the next morning I lugged £1100 round and paid it all in in one go, breaking one of the shoulder straps of my rucksack in the process. :x

Changing up 5 bags maybe, but they can't stop you paying in money to your account. Walk up, pay in all the money and because it's cash it's instantly credited to your account. Immediately make a withdrawal!

Rubbish.....the last week i've taken £2100 to 3 banks in 4 different trips, most were happy to serve you and gave the usual 'Been saving up' 'Someone's been paid' or 'Who's won loads of money then?' comments. Back to £250 coins again now, time to rebuild the mountain once more 8)
You took it to different banks? Sounds fishy if you ask me!

I have several accounts. Alliance and Leicester limits you to five bags. Lloyds don't seem to, but specialise in the old "Won on the jukebox again?" type comments.

i'm with Lloyds/TSB and they always tell me 5 bags max per day, I only ever use the same branch though, maybe other branches of the same bank would accept more?

Exactly, you could pay a billion bags into your account, why do you need to change them up anyway? just put them in your account and keep enough to play with.

Already changed alot in an arcade so we chucked £200 in one of the roulettes had a few spins small betting spins and took £200 back out. Got the notes, couple of minutes later we were asked to hand the notes back and have our coins instead.
I hope you told them to fuck off?

Halifax bank only accepts 5 bags too, the line i got from one of there staff is during busy times it would slow service down, i explained it was 4:30 on a Monday and there wasnt any customers but wouldnt budge.

I had abit of luck some time ago on the machines in a William Hill, won about £400 from less then 20 pound coins, they moaned about me using pound coins, had a go at the manage for it in the end because he went on abit.

On the plus side my local arcade will happily change any amount over
