being a gambler does make a lot of things in life seem quite cheap!

I pay £2.60 for a pint of ale down my local, and think 'can get four of these for about a tenner, and it will last 2 hours or more'

£10 on a DOND can dissappear in about 2 minutes

or

'Game of pool - 50p' Bargain really! A good laugh and it lasts a while..

alternativaly thats either two spins, one spin, or half a spin!

i think one of the reasons i wont allow myself a huge say for example 2k brainout .

isn't so much the big loss that day .

its the next day that would bother me more .

right now i appreciate the value of money ,,,,,,,, and am happy with anything over £50

so if i lost 2k ,,,,,,,,,,,,, then went out the next day ,,,,,,all day ,,,,, and lets say it was a good day and i made 150 + ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

it would still feel so insignificant , demoralising , sick as pigshit to the stomach etc ,,,,,,,,,, knowing ,,,,,,, it could take weeks to get back on top.

thats what gives me control .

i'll experiment £100 each with anyone trying anything ,,,,,,,,, have a gamble . whether that be method guessing a bandit ,fobt or whatever even a night out at a casino ,,,,,,,,,, but would draw the line at a ton. (and treat it as a night out , and write off the loss)

anymore for me would start the stomach churning ,,,,,,, fuck that.
Little discipline = BIG issue

There must be a fair few on her not admitting they are addicts and pretending to be "in the know".
 I found that tale rather amusing Harry, not because I take pleasure from other peoples misfortune but because its something I can relate to. I'm probably already 4 or 5k down this year on fobt's, and i'm sure it'll rise as the year wears on. I play them out of laziness, rather than traipse around fighting over machines with other players i'll try and pinch "A quick ton" and go back to bed.

Thanks Mr Lugsy :-)

Yes, I like the AWPs too much to give those up. What I do need to change though is to stop playing the 777 cabinets. Not the B3s, but rather their younger brother cat Cs. They eat sheet after sheet and I understand that their large drifts can prove a relatively dangerous form of gambling. I find recently that if I make a raise off AWPs, it'll disappear into the 777 without trace.

For some reason it really gets on my nerves when 'players' run round like mad burning machines so they can go to the bookies/casino/drug dealer and waste their money. Why just not go out? Or go out and give me the money?

Why let it bother you ? There are a lot of 'what-ifs' in this world that would improve your life were they to transpire, but aren't going to happen. This is just another one.

Stress gives you stomach ulcers and makes you bald :-(

It used to piss me off when a company that I was working for insisted on carrying on the employment of a gibbon to do a job that I had automated anyway. Essentially this gibbon got paid to turn up and read GQ every day, and occasionally have a pint of mild at lunchtime. I would have preferred it if the gibbon got the sack and they paid me the money instead, but of course that never happened.

Are we all not a little bit like that, I mean every slot player has lost a fortune to get where they are. You dont walk into a pub / arcade and hit skillstops and take certain features aged 16 off your first pound.

My question was do we know any and can they be helped. I never tried to set up a G.A. confessions page! I think the people who do this must help themselves but a good influence can do wonders and encourage them no end.

A good mate of mine has been sorted out by GA, before I knew him he made 25k on phone betting, dogs n horses. He was shit and just did tips from the tabloids. Next day lost his 25k and took out a 15k loan. This was sneeking to the bogs at work to do it. Hes been clean since 2004 and wont even help out on the SWP if we are playing

In my case.... losing £100 on some piece of garbage you know better than to play in the 1st place - equates to £100 i cannot play poker with - something i know i am making money on in the long run.

Some clever people can play poker and browse the internet at the same time.

It's a bit like playing machines. All the weaker players come out at the weekend. It sure beats hanging around betting shops with Albanian ne'er do wells and incontinent octagenarians.

Bit harsh that mog
Read the thread title again m8
Reason is i am in same boat.
I have made a nice fortune on poker since 2005 till 2010.
I have never had a losing year.
I have made 150k since 2005 and thats without rakeback.
Some months i was geting 3/4k back in rakeback.
1 month i got 6.5k rakeback
I was a winning player at 1/2 2/5 and 5/10 blinds.
I felt out of depth at 10/20.
I have fuck all to show for it.
I gambled heavily along side there casino,At times playing both at same time.
I would be 1k up at poker,I would then open a slot up and spin away at 4.50 a spin and 9 quid a spin a few times.
Biggest ever win just over 6k biggest loss about 8k.
That was on 1 slot aswell .
I have hardly played poker in 2011.
When i do,I deposit say 100 quid, 2 days later its at about 400.
Then i end up in the casino and you know the rest.
So i now dont bother.
I have no addictions anywhere else thank god.
So mog there you go,I was and probaly still am SHITHOT at poker.
And to boot, with no fortune to show for it
