Yes, as much i'm hating to admit it, its happened!
Playing Throw a wobbler x2 and a Hot Gothic today, both of which decided they would stop backing after i had a streak banked. If you thought it was just reds that did it, think again! What hope have people got if this is happening now. You can suss a refill most of the time, but trying to work out if its a refill and fake backing takes the biscuit really.
Not impressed! :x :x

Are there not four types of backing?
1/ 'McCoy' backing, ie, full, not a refil day etc...
2/ 'Fake' backing a la Red, where it backs for the first £7 of plays when the machine hasn't been played for a period of time.
3/ 'Refill' backing, where it's been topped up by an engineer - no pointer on how the m/c will play.
4/ 'Real, But-takes-what-you-bank-into-account' backing, which I think you're talking about. Ie, backing until you win, then it'll stop backing for the amount that you've won. For example, you're forced a win from collect prize of say a £5. It'll now not back until you put £5 + £1 back in. (It'll back on the additional £1)
I'd say that no. 4 is just as good a sign that a machine is going to dump as no. 1. Agree though, another thing for us to take into account when we hear that pleasant 'drop' sound! :x

Backing is where the coins don't go into the hoppers, and fall into the cashbox at the bottom of the machine doc. You can clearly hear when its happening, makes a hell of a lot more noise!
I would tend to agree Mr V, my DNA is nearly always ready to go when its doing that, but the Wobblers and Hot Gothic didn't do anything special, and i probably ended up losing about £20 between the three of them because they didn't go for anything decent when i got the tops and afters. Luck of the draw i guess.
It really messes up keying a machine though. If some goes in the hoppers, and some down the back, you can't really have much of a clue as to how full it really is.

so fake backing is giving the impression that the tubes are full and thus ready to pay out?Mattb wrote:Backing is where the coins don't go into the hoppers, and fall into the cashbox at the bottom of the machine doc. You can clearly hear when its happening, makes a hell of a lot more noise!

Well in a way yes, but backing per se does not mean it will be ready to pay (refills etc). Most players on here are wary of the fake bits though.
Red gaming started it ages ago, and its very deceptive and devious of them to do it. Even more so now that all machines are starting to follow suit! :x
