Both methods are in existence, depending on the machine.

The machines in my Spoons (4 pubs within range of me) are all on 78%, but the branches of Spoons which were closed and re-opened as Lloyds No.1 bars (still Spoons, but with ridiculous music blaring after 5pm) all have 74%-ers.

Matt - the Spoons you're referring to - are they definitely Spoons and not Lloyds bars?
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy

A few Spoons near me have been using machines on 70% for a couple of years.

Well its a spoons thats changed to a Lloyds a while back. The percentage change has come quite recently though, definitely in light of those 50p games i feel.
