I've never had a gamble on the ferries - is the journey usually long enough to actually win or is it a race against time?

ive ran outta time once before ended up not chancing it and collecting what i could in the hope i could nail it on my way back. but we got a different ferry on the way back

on the ferry trip i went on,it set sail at 6pm and arrived in belguim at 8am the following morning,plenty of playing time there then
