New Arcade
New Arcade
I have recently come into a few quid, quite a few thousand quid to be more exact. I have always been interested in coin operated equipment and especially AWPs etc.
I am considering going into the business, starting a new leisure centre / arcade with a number of AWP's, possibly a few pushers etc. This would be a partnership with my brother who is also keen on the idea.
I wonder if anyone out there has any opinions on doing so???

if i was u, i would seriously consider against that idea m8 ffs lol!! dont u know every arcade in sight gets battered nationwide, so my advice is stay well clear m8 haha!!!
Re: new arcade
But a machine will still run to a %, so battered or not, a machine set to 80% will still make you 20p for every pound put in, win or lose.Cardshark wrote:if i was u, i would seriously consider against that idea m8 ffs lol!! dont u know every arcade in sight gets battered nationwide, so my advice is stay well clear m8 haha!!!![]()
There is no doubt as you say that there is money to be made...
You only have to do the maths as you have just pointed out to see that for every pound played there is a profit to be made.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who may know of any sort of hidden problems or useful information in opening such a business...
Cheers

It needs to be in a good location for one, its hard to get a licence for an arcade also in many towns, and thirdly to make any sort of decent money you need all the £500 section16 pumpers to come, which means you'll have to shell out a load on expensive £500 machines..... One of my mates owned an arcade and it was rubbish( in terms of profit for him! ), no £500's and no lotechs like party time - these are the machines that take the big money.
If you have all this, then you should be fine, although I imagine the startup cost to be very high for a decent place and selection of machines.

Siting machines is only a good idea if you can successfully maintain them cost effectively... No one is going to want to hire a machine from you if you don't have the means to get it mended swiftly when leisure link etc would be able to.
As for opening an arcade... To be able to compete with a nobles etc would require a huge outlay... although getting a load of recent ish machines off ebay and opening up might be an idea??
For example
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUSTIN-POWERS-BAR ... dZViewItem
And even at £125 that is overpriced... get 20/30 of those and you could be up and running... if you manage to get permission etc etc etc.
But even saying that, if you don't live near the cost... then it's not something i would recommend.
Regards.

What about buying someone elses business for sale, one that already has a history and good earnings in a good location for example like this:
http://www.businessesforsale.com/Sea-Fr ... -Sale.aspx
I mean this is just an example but the quoted profit is more than 100K a year on a business selling for £570,000, not only that, it is bloody freehold, how good is that!
