The Chief's double

Post by redlinesman »

The Chief has just been on the phone and has given me 2 horses to back in a double today.

He's called on some of his unrivalled contacts and given me:

Palmyra 2.50 Lingfield 2/1 & Pale Orchid 4.30 Lingfield 5/4

They are quite short prices but the double pays nearly 6/1 so I'm sticking £1000 on.

Obviously the likelyhood is the bet won't come in but I'm prepared to risk it and don't mind losing the 1k considering the money I have won off the football over the past 6 days.. If it wins great but if it loses that's fine as well for me. Just saying that because if anyone follows it, don't go putting any of your savings on it as you'll probably beat yourself up if it gets beat. Obviously if your having a decent day/week and you don't mind losing a bit then go for it and invest in a little entertainment and hopefully some profit.

Kind Regards

<facepalm>

Can afford to lose £1k? Shouldn't you convert that to at least two or three days work?

Is this in the bookmakers or on the betting exchange ? Betfair at 3.2 (3.1 after commission) and 2.38 (2.31) would pay £7161 rather than £6750. Then again, never much all weather money to lay this time of day. Doubt Ladbrokes would take a £1000 double from a stranger. Corals knocked back a guy in Reading the other week who wanted £2000 on a 1/2 horse. They are not bookmakers anymore.

ps Is this from the bespoke city syndicate as I may have a substantial bet myself ?

First one got beat but guess what harry, you were spot on, Ladbrokes wouldn't take bet '£100 notes only' they said so left it as didn't have time to be messing around going to betting shops. Looks like I'll be on the football tonight to keep this run going.
