Not everyone likes to save the cash Dean. I know a few people that like to spend what they make, from casinos to booze to holidays. There's a fair few that have spent shit loads on cars, my mate got rid of his ST for a vw scirocco recently, dunno if that's any better as liked his ST. Others like to make crazy online gambling bets on Hi-Lo gambler. And what did I do? Spend 31k on a caravan lol, crazy.

I upgraded my Getz to a 1.4 Toyota Yaris 09 yesterday, but some stupid bitch has already gone into the back of it.
Maybe should have gone for something more powerful but only passed my test last year.

redlinesman wrote:It's a different game these days from going back 5/10 years ago. The two major factors for me were when the bookies got rid of them and the smokiing ban. In the days with no betting shop finder on an iphone and before sat navs, many places simply didn't get covered. Bumping into another player was fairly rare, certainly no need for security back in the day. Tricks and methods seemed to last forever and got to admit did enjoy it more, even if I do make a lot more now. Also pubs were not aware what you were in the pub for even if you did win money every visit, the loudmouth tracksuit brigade of the new generation altered that around whem the £35 jackpots came out.

Remember going out the first day of the smoking ban, think it was a Saturday and everywhere was like a ghost town. Many local drinkers pubs that were packed fri, sat, sun and were always good hits simply died with the lack of trade following the ban, and we're still seeing the casualties to this day.
If you've been around for the last 10 years like you say you have, (who knows if this is true, you talk a lot of shit) then you'll know that the tracksuit brigade started ruining the game long before £35 jackpots were introduced. The Vivid days were when I started to notice an increase in the number of players. In the Jpm days I used to go days without finding anything dead. Keyable extremes is what really fucked it up imo. It didn't matter what walk of life you were from, you could've been on the streets, but if you had a refill key and a fiver then you were in business. Some of the people I used to run into doing extremes were so utterly raw in terms of efficiency that it made me shudder. You'd have 3 kids huddled round and one of them would be keying it in a manner that lacked any subtlety whatsoever. They weren't being brazen, they were just so new to what they were doing that they were making a spectacle of themselves.

At the moment I don't think there is an excess of players out there, mainly because the people who can't maintain a float are fucked because you need a couple of hundred minimum to withstand any bad hits you go to.

When i started out in the mid-late 90s we must have gone about two years of playing without seeing another player,we honestly thought we were the only people making money on fruits,it wasnt until we ventured a bit further afield that we met a couple from yarmouth,£10 cash jackpots in bookies was where it started for me,good enjoyable games, unlike the shit today.

im with mcstreak n skinner on this.

back in the maygay (superpots donky kong supercluedo etc etc) emptier days ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we had 6months before you seen your first chip .

i like your point about floats rich ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, because of the near on compulsively involvement of a ton plus deep into todays machines , ,,,,,,,,, those players that only live for today are on their way out ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, some of these younger lads go round in threes out of the necessity of a combined cpl of hundred float.

if ton jp's are on the way , with even more heavy involvement required ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, things can only get better for us , and worse for them.

living for today , without planning for tomorrow is beyond stupid

You aren't alone mate, I quite often used to find myself struggling for a float, normally because i'd visited a casino or bookie. Nothing worse than being sharked as a player, nothing. We are all used to sitting around waiting for someone to lose their last pound, I sometimes even sit there thinking 'hurry up you fucking mug' as I wait to pounce like a predator. But being THAT person, the person playing their final credits in desperation as they ring round trying to get hold of money using various excuses is a horrible feeling. But not so horrible that I didn't used to put myself through it on a fairly regular basis.

I love making life difficult for myself, its a challenge.

ive been 120-130 into a elctro 10 pound ready.played some dirty ones over the years.... Say you lost all your money tomoz Lee, could you borrow a float to get back on ur feet? thats wot u have to think about....all professional gamblers go broke. last time i went broke was 2002..i borrowed a 20 spot off a mate...and within a week i was back up and running and have never looked back. ive been silly with money...but i always saved money too. spent and saved. ive never had shitty cars....im too big to drive a small car. the golf ive got now is my smallest car ive had

good question mav me old mucker ......... it wouldn't happen of course ,,,,,, but , i'll indulge you

ive never borrowed of anyone , and if i did i would have to make it my first priority to pay them back ,,,,,,,,,,,, so therefore wouldn't feel comfortable using their money on anything less than a guaranteed empty ,,,,,,,,,,,, because sods law says that the first general play machine would play up like a bitch to make things even worse.

so no ,,,,,,,, i wouldn't borrow ,,,,,,,, i would rather sign on or get a job ,,,,,, just until i had 500 clear to resume playing.

ps , im sure your right that most gamblers hit rock bottom at some stage .

but the ''gamblers'' you mention ,,,,,,,,,,,, i believe are a world apart from the disciplined fruit pro.

pps stop picking on my cars lol ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but your right lol ,,,,,,,, the head gasket went on my matiz so i scrapped it (got 150 back lol) ,,,,,,,,, a bonus point to whoever guesses what im driving now lol
