A lot of these recent threads and too much time on Fruitchat have clearly sunk into my conciousness...
I was walking through the City of London last night to find the pub I was going to shut which is not uncommon around there for a Monday evening. Decided to cut down a ginnel leading to Wetherspoons to find my path barred by a chap in uniform: "Sorry sir you can't come down here".
Wondered why but thought sod it I'll walk round on the main road. On turning into the main road there were another three men in uniform also barring the way. I kid you not, the first thought that entered my head was this Redlinesman bloke has gone a bit over the top this time- there's only a couple of quizzzies a Monopoly something or other and some burnt deals which surely dont warrant a 100 yard exclusion area and a ring of steel.
Anyway I then recognised the insignia of the City of London police on one of the bloke's caps. It turned out the area had been locked down due to a suspicious vehicle parked outside the Bank of England.
Fair enough but as I wandered off to O'neills instead I couldn't help wondering whether it was simply a case of the Chief being parked up on a red route.
Definitely too much Fruitchat.

Just dug this up from a quite old thread. At the time it was attributed to either Leisure Link or a royal visit but now I am not so sure. Looks like it could actually have been a top boy precautionary measure.
