If it all does end
What would you do?
A gap on a cv, or lack of qualifications will scupper most peoples ambitions of employment, and even if you can get a job, will it really pay the bills?
The average wage is something like £20k which equates to about £300ish a week after deductions. How the fuck can you live on that? I know I couldn't. No way.
Make no mistake, without any new rips/methods, this game is ending. And that's without taking into account the doom mongers posting on the other thread about legislation changes etc. You have about 6 months (2 machine changes basically) and you will not have enough for a full route. I'd estimate about 5% max of machines sited are decent playables to non top boys (if indeed top boys have anything) which makes for some pretty disheartening checking trips.
And even if something does come out, is this really a great life?
I suppose most people aim for £1k per week, which doesn't give a lot of scope for savings if you have a house to pay for, kids, bills, whatever. You get constant grief and are viewed as scum by an awful lot of people, rightly or wrongly. Is that a price worth paying for the money?
I don't care what anyone says, unless smart investments have been made, or you are a tooler, you won't have walked out of this game a millionaire. And most people won't even have a tenth of that.
If you want my advice, I'd work on something else because you'll be glad for it next year. I am. Unfortunately it takes time and investment, but I'm hoping it will pay off. Problem is, when you're running around like a blue arsed fly trying to get to pubs to earn money to pay for a lifestyle then time is something a lot of people, myself included, don't have.

Bored of the grind.

Its fucked round here anyway
Saturated with players
More moody staff & regulars
More shit games, less playables
Economic downturn - Nobody is interested in £70 JPs as much. To a Joe Munter, a bet on football or FBOTS are more appealing.
I think the biggest problem I have with machines is STRESS. Life used to be so much easier playing for a living. Now its getting silly
Example of route
Pub 1 £2 profit
Pub 2 Not Due £5 loss
Pub 3 Due but took the piss £20 loss
Pub 4 £15 loss on machine £13 profit on quizzer £2 loss
Pub 5 £50 profit
Pub 6 £15 profit
Pub 7 Not Due £5 loss
Pub 8 Not Due £5 loss
Pub 9 Due £20 profit
£50 (- drink bill - travel), left evens after shopping
Yes only 9 pubs - but from 3pm.
The beauty of making money on machines is having them due & getting out of pubs that weren't with minimum outlay.
I'm ready for a change tbh. I'm tired of it.

It was clearly unsustainable, and its a dying industry both from our point of view and the manu's.
I see playing in the future, if indeed there is a future for machines, like this:
Every major city has at least 30-40 alcoholic players who have no ambition, sign on and are addicted to the fruits. They are all happy if they can pay for their days drink, with the occasional profit. Afterall the dole will pay the bills, and they can just enjoy themselves playing machines and getting drunk constantly. What more could they possibly want!
Fuck being part of that.
I'm not ready to quit yet, but I am really looking forward to it!

Start your own business. All you really need is determination and commitment, and a good bullshit-o-meter to avoid bad customers. It may not work the first few times around, but eventually with experience and a bit of timing you'll get it right and make a good living.sir ratholer wrote:What would you do?

Why anyone would wish to work for a poor wage is beyond me.
"If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"
We've all been spoiled over the last 18 months, and I don't think anyone has the right to moan that its gone a bit flat.I'm fucked when it ends, but maybe thats not a bad thing.
I wouldn't mind if it finished tomorrow because then i'd have no choice but to go back to studying or learn a trade in order to get a half decent job. While its still possible to eke out a living i'm doing just that and delaying the inevitable. I stopped treating fruits seriously a good couple of years ago, just going out when I felt like it, but working hard if it was really good, then wasting the proceeds. I won't truly appreciate money until i've had to work for it, and won't get any satisfaction out of life until i've found a vocation which will leave me with a sense of fulfilment.
Ultimately I feel as though i've wasted my life.

It would be unethical to have his face in 80% of bars up & down the country.
Wonder if the show would continue with a different presenter?
