1 in 18 chance to win $1000 (500quid)

Post by autonudge »

So I'm in New Zealand and they have fruitmachines in some of the pubs. They are all linked to a central jackpot which runs between $800 and $1000 and it can go at any point between that figure but it has to go if it hits $1000. Went to the pub for brekkie the other morning and the back gaming room seemed busier than usual. Paid a visit and found everyone playing the machines for the jackpot. Looked at the big screen and it showed the jackpot at $995 and climbing. Looked around the room and found just one of the 18 machines free. Jumped on this machine knowing I had a 1 in 18 chance to get the jackpot. Threw $20 and got free spins which gave me $160 so couldn't complain but whilst I was getting free spins the guy next to me won the JP of $1000. Interesting way to do it but it can become quite addictive.

Do they have anything like this back in England? I think a certain % of the profits get ploughed back into community projects.

Don't they have some kind of working mans club where all the profits are divided back amongst the members, so they don't care how much they lose , as it all comes back.

That's an interesting read about Aussie machines - thanks for sharing Autonudge. Out of interest, do your fruit machines still have fruit symbols or is it more like jack/queen/king/ace J Q K A symbols like you get on casino slot machines? Is 'pokie' your slang word for the bandit?

lol Trayshop. Yeah NZ.

They have different symbols. They can be very addictive. I'll try and film one and post it but trying not to play it at the moment. I guess I could play it one 1 cent a spin just to film it.
