slightly off topic m8 ,,,,,,,,,,, but i actually think spoons food is good in one respect .

because at least you get food on a level to which you have paid for .

im sick of paying more for a pub meal which is only as good (or worse) as the spoons option anyhow .

had fish n chips the other day for 6.99 ,,,,,,,,, was no better than the spoons version ,,,,, might as well have had the spoons for half the price with free tea.

as for hrk ,,,,,,,,,, past caring.

as for jobs ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, no matter what it is ,,,,,,, i would have to work for myself ,,,,, ive built up (over many years) a sort of chip on my shoulder bad attitude ,,,,,,,, and couldn't take any form of authority ,,,,,,, having lived to my own devices for so long.

Talking about resturants I've got a meeting with Barclays in two weeks time to discuss my business plan and it involves as theme based resturant on a sport in the city of London.

I've given serious thought to a restaurant for a while now.

Myself and two other south based players are looking in to opening a vegetarian restaurant as they are always busy, and attract the "preferable" sort of customers.

After looking into the business side of it, I realised it's not as easy as throwing money in a pot and getting someone else to run it for you, and I don't think I could go into it half-hearted. All or nothing.

Plus I want to emerge from fruit-playing as a success. Not just a healthy bank balance, but a businessman aswell.

.
Correct, running your own business is not easy, and if you want to make it a success, it will eat huge amounts of your life for the first two years, and large chunks of it thereafter. I'm running my own business and have directorships in two others, and work so much it's not funny. The rewards are that i'm in a financially secure position, and have a large network, which you will find is also essential in most businesses.

I thought going into a venture with two others who I trust would be beneficial in that it would share the burdens of what a first business would undoubtably bring.

The financial returns wouldn't be as high as running it myself, but it would be good experience.

By the way, did I spell "undoubtably" right?

Indubitably not. The correct spelling is 'undoubtedly'.

Well if ya do open a food place make sure ya get a good fruit. And make sure you hammer it daily, bonus money.

Running a pub must be the best way forward! We spend half our lives in them. Plus we would know what fruits to get or not get. Plus loads of them are shuting down, it's only a matter of time before they start re-opening. Should get in while ya can.

Agreed! Few more years until you can make money from pubs, if ever again!! All chains or about 2 moneymakers in each town, rest living on borrowed time.

Agreed with Lee on every respect...couldn't work for anyone else for the reasons mentioned, and also there is fuck all money out there for the pub trade, which is exactly the reason why many have/are being shut down.

I myself have owned the tenancy of a pub, and if you work every hour god sends, never have a holiday and never have theft etc then you may, just may, with favourable winds, scrape a reasonable living. But it's almost impossible to live like this, so it's not a reasonable expectation. I got out of it with a fair hit, but I'm glad I did.

The only way you could make money out of a pub is to have a free house (ie no tie on drinks) which has a good sized outdoor area and does good food. Anything involved with a brewery is a terrible idea. Unfortunately free houses cost plenty of £70 jackpots...
Bored of the grind.

for a small restuarant, maybe seating 40 people... would cost in excess of £100,000 to open.. and dont expect to make a profit in the first 2 years

good luck if you actually go for it though...

I work for one of the big restaurant chains. To be truthfull, I wouldn't open a restaurant for at least 3 years from now, even if I was a multi-millionaire. The market is just too saturated with discounting and I have seen so many independents either shut or making their rich owners poor.

The time will come but just not yet.
