New Zealand dollar coin

Post by Blackcurrantsoda »

Amongst a few coins that came from my punt today was a New Zealand dollar.. They go in as pounds, popped it in an alien went straight in.. The rate of exchange is 0.43 to the pound, if it was a bit less I may have considered a trip/ way of getting hold of some.. Used to work a few years back with a Swaziland coin, I'm sure some of you might remember.....

Not forgetting the glued-together Austrian Schillings!

Hehe that's not uncommon, they must have used it to refill straight into the hopper with the machine open.
Bad practice though, what company was it?

Hmm, thats an odd one really, as according to the specs of each coin on wiki, although its close, none of the specs of each coin are exactly the same...
One pound.
Mass....9.5 g
Diameter....22.5 mm
Thickness....3.15 mm
One dollar
Mass....8.00 g
Diameter....23.00 mm
Thickness....2.74 mm

So, although not exact, apparantly close enough, but i guess mechs have to have certian tolerances to account for old/worn pound coins etc.. so maybe thats why it works.

Also, if you held an NZ dollar the right way up you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between that and a quid at a glance...

you can get about 2.3 for a quid, so if they actually work then it's definately worth a go.

Lads, openly discussing fraud on any website is a bit stupid, whether you mean it or not!

Just get out there and empty all the Count Yer Cash's via the legit method... :)

an you'd get one hit a machine, and in a fuckload of trouble...probably jail time.

funnily enough, there are people contributing to this thread who regard "toolers" to be the scum of the earth... times must be bad if you are even considering this as a viable option..
