Emptying Fruit Machines - Something not seen before

Post by mitchellleary »

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but i want to know if anyone knows anything about something i saw. I was working as Manager in a pub and a couple of lads came in one day and systematically emptied each fruit machine in turn as if they were playing them but each time they got the jackpot they would put their hand under to catch the coins so that it didn't make too much noise.
Eventually, i kicked them out and told them not to come back.
Now i have heard of all of the old theories to do well on fruit machines and even to rob them but these guys had something else that i hadn't seen before. One of my regulars told me they had something in their hand which they were placing on a specific part of each fruity. I checked after and there were no drill holes or anything.
Could it have been a special magnet or device? I have loooked through other forums and most people say that magnets just dont work anymore but whatever these guys had it did work because they got jackpot on all of the machines very quickly. We had 5 fruit machines.

If anyone has any idea what it was, i would really appreciate it if you could tell me. If you don't want to say it in the forum, send me a pm or email me mitchellleary@hotmail.com

Cheers and goodnight

Did you actually see them get a jackpot? if not then most likely to be a cc talk box used to dump the hopper...if they were getting jackpots then could be a similar device used to clock up credits....

Either that or the pub you work in has 5 machines that can all be legally emptied, but I doubt it.

What is a cc talk box?

They were definately getting jackpots and alot of them and they would empty each machine one at a time so if it was a device that clocks up credits, that could explain it but i have no idea how a device like that works??

thanks

I doubt there was anything going on lol, you can't trick machines into giving jp's using anything dodgy!!!!

If they were only getting 1 jp out of each machine, its likely they just knew how to play them well, ie. better than your locals!!!

Which machines were they out of interest?

maybe they were just using a refill key?
maybe they won the jp's out of luck/putting loads in/aid of the key?

Nah, they will have had one of them RF jammers.

You can buy them off EBay for about 10p.

you could make your own out of a piece of plastic and a bit of wire.

Anyway, they work on every machine ever built and either clock up free credits or just make the jackpot spin in.

So are you saying that your machines were all left with a balance of zero or that these guys took one jackpot out of each of them? If it's the former then common sense would dictate that you probably should have called the police. If the latter then I can't really see why you'd find their actions suspicious, unless you know otherwise they may have put quite a bit of money in to obtain these jackpots (maybe more than the jackpot itself, these days when playing at £1 stake it's perfectly concievable that you could lose £20 in about a minute or so), seeing a fruit machine paying a jackpot doesn't automatically mean the person playing it has won something, often they've actually lost even if that person appears to "know what they're doing".

The thing that Landlords/Managers don't seem to realise is that when they are watching/trying to spy on someone playing a gaming machine that, believe it or not, 99% of the time the player in question is well aware of the fact they are being watched and if they did have anything to hide then they'd finish up and leave within a couple of minutes. If you're watching someone and they don't leave then the chances are they're not doing anything illegal and probably just want to be left in peace and are praying that a customer might turn up and give you something better to do!

Regarding the hand under the tray, why would anyone want the other people in the pub to hear that they've just taken some money out of the machine when it's gonna invariably lead to the usual chorus of "Mines a double JD" or "Arrghh I've just stuck forty quid in that as well..."? Figure those comments into a scenario where you've actually lost money and it might start to make sense to you.

If you were really that concerned about what they were doing did it ever cross your mind to try having a conversation with them or maybe just taking a closer look before chucking them out? If they were robbing your machines then all you've done is let them get clean away with your money!
