Landlords/Managers giving up??

Post by MrRed »

Well are we seeing pub managers finally giving up on people using refill keys

Went on on all dayer yesterday and after a few i became a bit lapse i got caught using my key, first in a most daunting
Manager came over and said 'i know what you are doing and we dont allow it' (its a spoons)
So i said ok sorry, and he just walked off, leaving me to empty my £40 bank

Anyway i then walks over to cobra cabana looking out for him, and i cant see him, so i key it £3 off

Next thing i am tapped on my shoulder by the same manager who says 'i have told you once its not allowed to use those keys'
Again i say sorry, as we both smile :?
Anyway he then lets me play the m/c, i put around £40 in, and got the top which went for £75 :D :D

He just did not seem bothered that i was not only using a key, but winning a load as well :? :?

I have never been caught using one before
I must remember to stop drinking so much

i dont see how they can say anything, ive seen spoons staff themselves key machines afyer hours..i didnt even know they were allowed to play thier own machines..

me and king con once got rumbled keying a DNA my some old twat..hes in that spoons 24/7 and is about the only person i EVER see play the machines...anyways he kindly told the manager about it, he came over and politely said do you have a key..we looked confused and said we didnt know what it was...he then explained the details to us in a friendly chat then walked off.

good chap..have since become quite chummy with him when i go on the rounds...

the other "manager" has me on watch lol

taking to much from her machines apparently...

DONT WANT EM PLAYED DONT HAVE EM...bitch

again seeing a few of the new keys holes turning up...

my mate garry in the local arcade showed me his..

they are HUGE things...massive yellow lumps..

The thing I don't get is this: Any Wetherspoons manager worth his/her salt will know that in the long run, regardless of what anyone tries, the pub will be making a fabulous profit overall from the machines. Even from the majority of 'players', we'll still lose in the bigger picture over the years.

So do they really need to risk jeopardising this profit by disturbing the regular players?

I was the talk of my local Spoons last week as someone had spotted me playing Life's a Beach with £60 in the bank. Never mind that it'd cost more than £75 to get that far, the sight of more than £3 in the bank was considered 'abnormal' and I felt downright uncomfortable.
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy

totally agree nix.

it seems that so many people are ignorant to the fact that these machines can pay out more than the value of one JP in close succession.
so many times ive had people quite harmlessly asking how much ive taken from a machine...(normally reds which seem to have a habit of making £75 sound like £175 with those horriffic echoing trays) now the old timers dont care..they say good on ya and carry on with thier drinks..

but managers, this one especially think you doing them out of money.
it just seems that as its cold cash involved and you have won it from a gambling machine that you are cheating..
ive never cheated on a machine in my life...(dont class keying and expoliting glitches as cheating) ie wires, fake coins or glueing them together.
if your going to do that you might aswell rob the pub as its still a crime.

ive nothing to hide when playing machines and if i lose i lose and if i win then people should just respect that..its wierd how they can understand youve put £100 in and lost but not when you take it out..the cycle has to come full circle somewhere dont you think..

personally i dont see the problem with keys but my mates dad who's a landlord gets very suspicious. Im always having a friendly aregument with him about them.

the main crux of my arguement is taht your not effecting the machine itself. To me its the equivalent of walking into a bookies with a form guide - its not cheatingm, it gives you an advantage over someone without one but it doesnt effect the prices/ odds

Gotta say unfortunately i think its certainly NOT the case of managers/landlords giving up on players keying

Was in a pub called Barracuda about a week ago, Extreme looked ripe for picking - £1 off.

So i key to get on a few boards before i start trying to do it without using the "massively overhyped method" or as they are saying on ebay "emtpier".

About 2 minutes later i feel a really sharp pain on my neck...

"shit" i think to myself, "what the hells happening here". I turn round and its a massive bouncer who looks at me and says "DONT COME IN HERE USING YOUR BLOODY KEYS IN OUR BANDITS"...He quickly guides me straight to the door and promptly pushes me out. Rather cheekily on my behalf, bearing in mind i was pretty pissed off with £5 in the bank and still a quids worth of plays....I turn and say "they arent even illegal mate, you should check it out some day, have a good one yeah" and I walk off.

It was Friday about 8pm and only one doorman was on, crazily enough it was a fat ugly blonde twat, who i blatantly know plays the bandits along with his "chummy" supervisor who informed the bouncer of my "cheating". I think the only reason that the doorman reacted in such a way was blatantly because the blonde geezer must have said "that guy out there is scamming our machines with a device, throw him out".

Pissed me off a treat at the time, but the place is a chav hole anyway, the drinks are over priced and most of the new staff arent even friendly.....The only nice guy is the main manager.

Sorry for the long rant, but yeah...Thats my first ban for using a key.

Their loss.

:(

King.
