Yeh been there, although I've managed to pull it back to a profit every time luckily, although I have nearly lost 10000 chasing before, this is why I stay off it these days (that time I ended up 1000 down and counted myself SUPER lucky). I have put voluntary casino bars on all online sites I would ever consider playing on, so never do these days (ie. havent played online for ages, and I doubt I ever will again). Ironically some people may say you'd have to be a real addict to bar yourself from casino game sites, but personally I'd say it takes a strong personality to recognise your weaknesses and personally stop the opportunity for you to be exploited!

People that dont really gamble don't get it, you start out with medium sized bets ie. 100/bet, and you start a bit of a losing run and what you do is up the bet to recoup it, and chances are with this style you actually will recoup it.... but if you don't and you continue to lose... oh dear HUGE LOSS in QUICK TIME...!

Always scared I'd do 10+K on online in 10 minutes, never happened, but could well have done, I count myself lucky that it never has happened.....

Anyone really sceptical about online gaming ought to consider, I have done huge bets, and still am up overall, and I count myself extremely lucky to have done so, which is why I would never do it again... (not that I even could thanks to those bars!!!)

On a betting POV I did 50 on chelsea/chelsea today at 2/1, thought it was a good price, if ashley cole hadnt screwed that through on goal might have won, but oh well... have to say football is my least profitable sports betting outline, and not blowing my own trumpet, but I'm well up on sports (not dogs/horses) betting.

Thats the most sensible post i have heard for a long time ob. I agree 100% with that. I myself would not class 100 as a small bet but alot more people who gamble probally have a lot more cash to gamble with than myself. I have done one hundred pound bet before on a fobt. And lost walked out and felt sick. But luck would have it that i have won more than lost over a 2 year period. Writed it out i am 4k up.

Fobt's are dodgy enough IMO,Online can't be any better,if you want to play go to a casino, and set a limit for yourself.
Remember you cannot beat the game longterm!

Hard luck Maverick. They say the best roulette system is to shoot absolutely everyone and take all the money, but obviously online that's hard to do.
Again, just in this thread we have a reference to the possible riggedness of FOBTs. I am totally confused, are these things bloomin' rigged or not?
I notice that when you have say a 5er on a single number, it tends not to come in more often than not, rather than often not coming in more often than.....yeah......anyway.........do we remember with greater resonance the big losing spins? Or are they just damned rigged to 90% or similar?
Any thoughts that don't involve being disciplined and not playing in the first place? That is of course, the greatest roulette system with fraud and mass homicide considered to be inconsiderable.
I'm going to say that they're sometimes rigged and sometimes not rigged to get the debate started.

As for online gambling, I've tried a few times, just 5s and 10s on Betfair zero roulette because of the limits, but on other sites I start off with small 1k bets, just to get the action started and only if I win do I move up to the medium sized 10k bets to see if my luck holds. On a good run, or a massive tilt, I move up to the slightly larger six figure bets, just a quick 200k or whatever, which as Ob says usually works. If it doesn't then it does get a bit hairy with having to lay down a few mill on the table. It's at this point that you can start to sweat.
My largest ever betting session was just a few bill onto the board (I won't say how many). I counted myself lucky when I finished a mere 2mill down on that session.
I know some nutcases who lay down jills, googlys and bill bill mills, I haven't quite got those funds, but if I had, I reckon I'd be a millionaire by now, with using the Martingale system.

Take care, gamble safe and enjoy the weather. Relax and remember roulette causes impotence.

    Of course they're not rigged!

They don't need to be! Roulette is rigged already! It pays out at approx 97%, and added to that, most people who play roulette are compulsive gamblers who tend to keep gambling until all their money has gone.

I know we've been over this ground before but there you are

self baring is a joke ,

my asian friend bik , barred himself from his local ladbrokes , took photos in of himself to warn any new staff , if in time he felt the urge to venture back in ,,,,,,, did a proper job of it lol.

    fair play

but its only a mile from his house to the city centre , and 20 more bookies.

he sadly still gambles on em now ,

i love him to bits , and he would break his back to help anyone , he's a great guy , but his mentality to gambling is so off .

i take him out now and again , to help him out , but its generally pointless because if i make 200 for instance that day and give him say 50 for example , the next day he will blow it in fobt roulette.

when the trick for barcrest thunderbird was all but finished , he found one in an indian social club,

no other slotter from anywhere was likely to find it , and i told him the trick , and how to count down from backing , gave him a refill key etc ,

it had just been put in , so he had a good 3 months on it , i told him to look after it by doing it the afternoon after fill up day , once a week only , so it wouldn't get noticed , etc

he iou 'd it first time , engineer came sorted it , and he iou'd it again .

love him like a brother ,,,,,,,,, but what a plonker
i could tell you many more similar stories from bik's past , ive known him 23 years, but suffice to say , he has worked for m&s for the last 15 years and doesn't have a penny to his name to show for it.
    what a waste of life

my point is , professional gambling is a state of mind , its a mentality , an attitude ,
you have to respect it ,,,, and control it ,,,,,,,, or it will control you.

i sympathies with the opening post , and i know compulsive gambling is a disease , and it's ok for me to preach , because i have control . and dont touch anything other than fruits (the right ones)

but why is fobt roulette such an attraction ??? it's beyond me
ok there's the allure of 36 to 1 payoff , but whether there rigged or not (thats another thread) why do people insist on playing anything where you simply have no edge longterm.
    ????

there wrecking your life ,,,,,,,, get off em

Ok as a non-gambler (I dont class pro playing on machines to be gambling really, if looked at from a long term perspective and done properly) I think you haven't got it at all, so let me explain...

It's for the buzz/enjoyment of risking your money for a big payout, it's the "crux" if you like of gambling in general. Why would anyone gamble on horses/sports/casino games, all these things you have no edge on longrun, does it stop it being a multibillion pound industry?!

Why would you want to gamble on things you have no egde on vs thing you do.. ie. roulette vs machines, well the thing you have to realise, is with casino games everyone is on a level playing field, playing against a very small or non existant (ie. betfair zero games) edge..

YOU PLAY THE GAMES BECAUSE YOU ENJOY IT, NOT BECAUSE YOU EXPECT A LONG RUN PROFIT FROM THEM!!!

Although these days, I rarely play casino games/rubbish slots, got a bit bored with it all...

this isnt spam by the way coz you that know me know i dont care about this kind of shit , but if you feel its spam delete away... obvously it doesnt benefit me in the slightest.

my mate does that method on on line casinos on the roulette cant remember what the exact method is called but i can find out if you like.... anyway it involves sighning up to several casinos .... 84 he has... bet 2 on odd or even and keep doubling till you win i can get all the site names if you like that have a very high table limit..

anyway you are only aiming to make 2 off each site a day ... he makes 700 a week on average and i know this for a fact he was a pro machine player but sticks to this now... obviously there could be a day where 80 blacks on the trot comes in for a massive loss but the law of averages ( if there is such a thing ) is well on your side.

personally i cant be bothered to sign up to all these sites and do it religously every morning but the cash is out there if you can be bothered.

Martingale system thats what its called just remembered ! heres a quick c & p after a 5 second search cant be arsed to read it me sen ... my mates no advocado with chilli sauce so it will work.

In the Martingale roulette system, each bet is doubled after a loss, and you go back to your starting bet after every win. You will win one unit for every win, as long as you have enough money and do not get to the house limit. Once you reach the online casino house limit, then you will lose the house percentage because there is noplace else to go.

There are many variations of Martingale roulette system, and it can be used with other methods. For example, you can use a three-stage Martingale of 10-20-40 combined with betting that the decision before the last one will repeat.... or bet that the FIRST shooter (only) will throw a pass (or don't pass). In this latter one you are betting only one bet on each shooter.

Some people add one or more units to each of the doubled bets. Others will change to a parlay after a certain point (let the first bet "ride" on the second bet after a win) and bet the amount that it takes to win what you want to win. Another variation would be to split it up and then win it back one part at a time.... there are many variations of Martingale roulette system, with which people swear they are winning.

so 700 a week is 100 a day, which equates to 50 casinos.

Why does he need to do all the different casinos? Surely it would be quicker just to keep doing it at the same casino?

I don't think you're spamming, but I can't believe anyone could make decent money on this long-term.

Another question, what is his maximum bet? Or to put it another way, how many losing gambles would it take for him to reach his limit? Starting at 2, 10 blacks in a row (betting on red obviously) would mean your putting 2000 down at one time.

your right ob m8 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and im not being sarcastic ,,,,,,,,,,,

your 100% right ,,,,,,, I DONT GET IT

i dont get the allure , i dont get the buzz

i dont get the compulsion ,,,,,,, and perhaps i never will

and russ m8 ,,,,,,, the martingale system fails ,,,,,,,,, because you can win small amounts for a time , then a string of say 14 reds come out on the trot and your bankrupt .

you might think that a string of 14 reds is uncommon , but ask any seasoned roulette player and they will tell you its not that uncommon atall.

in a dream world (and im not gonna atempt to do the maths ) ( perhaps someone else will)

even if your worth 2million pounds , the martingale would have that off you in around 20spins, assuming there was no maximum table limit..

people have been trying to work out roulette for centuries , its uncrackable

and that's why ob is right about me , pro slotting for me is a profession , a job , and many like me see ourselves as self employed ,,,,,,,,,,,, not gamblers ,

ok at its core its still gambling ,,,,,,,, (and we all still have losing days ) but overall the knowledge skills and discipline combined , stack the odds (or edge if you like) so heavily in our favour that it doesn't feel like gambling . and if we weren't making regular consistent profits , then we would be doing something else with our lives , and could switch off ""GAMBLING"" as easy as switching off a light switch .

doesn't mean im cold or callus to other people's suffering , i regularly help my friend bik out with loans and gifts of money ,,,,,,,,,, but sometimes it feels futile and that i may just be digging a deeper hole for him with the loans , and have wrote many off.

    Specifically 14 reds

    One in 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048,4096,8192,161 84

This is disregarding the zero, obviously the odds of 14 losing even money bets are MORE likely than One in every 16,184

    Starting at 2

    2,L14,L28,L316,L432,L564,L6128,L7256,L851 2,L91024,L102048,L114096,L128192,L13(unlucky) 16,384

You stake 2 on red/black. Bear in mind we are working without a zero, so I'm describing a situation that is rosier than it works out on a FOBT/in the casino.

You lose once (L1), you have to stake 4 to keep the system going.

From my experience in on line casinos, 10k is the max bet I have ever seen, often it is much lower.

If the 13th same colour/zero comes in, Red22's mate is sunk. This will happen every 1 in 8192 'forays'. I did actually post the proper odds with zero accounted for somewhere else.

Anyhow, obviously with this 100% payout example, it implies winning 16,382 and then on that 8192nd time of starting out with a 2 stake, you lose 16,384 to be even. Hard luck.

700/week => 350 betting forays (ie double until win/cap). Sticking with my 100% example....

    350/8192 = what? About 24?

So just over twice a year, he can expect the sword of Damocles to slaughter his bankroll.

If I was to play the system for a month, let's say 28 days, chances are I'd make 2,800. Tempting. However, assuming a 10k max bet, I'd have to ask if I was happy to lose over 16k for the chance of a probable 2.8k, the answer, is no, assuming the big loss=> pack up your bags and admit defeat.

The only way this can be a +ve EV is if there is some kind of major bonus whoring going on here, which may explain the multiple sites.

If he is whoring, he may as well bet all 36 numbers + zero and get the turnover thing done faster. Guaranteed lose, but no nasty variance.

PhD physics aside, taking roulette as a pure game of chance where physics doesn't play a role and assuming you can't fraud the software, cheat the croupier, real hustle some extra chips on the table......as Superman says, it's rock solid, can't argue with the maths.

The question is, is the entertainment you derive, worth paying 2.8%?

This poses an interesting question about the human psyche, which professor Mark Griffiths has studied.

There are two main drives to playing s34 AWP. The first is the 'video gamers' psyche, the second is the 'gambler's psyche'. Note these are actually very closely related. Superman is clearly more the former than the latter, but I would suggest he is not totally without the latter. Card nights and forays into Lisa's. Albeit card nights with mates are seen as a way of banishing the rake, a gamble is a gamble.
I am more split down the middle, I liked the odd game of Blitz on the Vic 20, but an 8 token repeater on Crystal Maze was also a huge allure.

It's an interesting topic. Some people are born hardcore gamblers, but luckily for them they are never exposed to addictive gambling, so the thought of entering a betting shop, casino just doesn't appeal as a lifestyle choice.

As for me, I've only played on line for play money or
    1) Staked 25 worth of small bets to qualiy for a poker freeroll
    2) Staked x for a free x whereby the bonus whore has +EV
    3) Played Betfair zero roulette for the 'craic'

I'm just over 100 up on roulette on line. I could have been 10,000,000 up on Betfair, but they barred me for being a zero roulette pro. I wouldn't believe that if I were you.

No, 100+a little bit on line.

Now FOBT. I know I made a bit of a joke, told a few stories, went on about 4dingers etc ect
Truth of the matter I played a FOBT for PR. Bookies which did have a GUAC inside. On a side note that bookies no longer has an AWP. However over the years it has had Vamp it up, Top Giza, Top Gears, Billy The Quid, DOND What's in your box?(p1 - first time I ever played the machine, my mate played before me, think they had one in that cinema in Gloucester, or it may have been Chequers or whatever it's called next door), Cash Attack and then a GUAC (Leisure Link) but it was GUAC for WELL over a year. Ady probably knows what I'm on about.

Anyhow it was a bit old boys clique and sometimes you'd get a duffer on the GUAC and there were only so many times you could check the static L*s down the road. So you'd maybe pull up a pew and do little diddy widdy bets on roulette. Or that silly dog game. Trouble is, had a couple of 20ish losses, make it back on Cluedo, once had a 55 dinger on the ding ding off 1.
Then the fateful day. The fateful day. Was going in for the GUAC, which I didn't post at the time, also wanted to check that pretty tune multi line, 20 widgety reel of fortune thing which is actually only on Global Draw.

Anyhow, big pots on the POG, got drawn in and whoomped a stash for an eventual 125 or whatever off 3 leps, wasn't too much down and could have whoomped on GUAC and made my money back and written it off as a waste of time, but nah, quick 10 on roullette and BANG! BANG! BANG! The most sensational run of bad luck. To be fair, had a few respites previously, get a bit down, win most back. But this was BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Sunk right down, struggled around the -600ish mark, but you all know that the machine was a bad of sand heavier when I left

Embaressing yes, but Fruit Chat is all about the times when you look back and think what a TWAT of a move that was. No point being sorry for yourself, I should have fucked PR and gone for the barring which never came. What's worse a 1k loss or being asked to leave?

So me, roughly, on line casinos about 100 up, FOBT (inc Rainbow Riches etc, not just roulette) about 1000 down.

Poker is just far more entertaining on line than a soul destroying roulette wheel, I don't feel the compunction to play on line, yeah zero roulette was a bit more tempting.

As for FOBT, well that shop wasn't too bad on the skirts of Hov, BUT when I've popped into various Hills to check the L8s

    Who plays roulette on FOBT?

    1) Look I'm not going to get all BNP here, but it IS mostly foreign looking people in clusters who have poor hygiene, usually body odour, unwashed clothes and halitosis in various degrees of severity.

    2) The desperate suit. The desperate suit has the aftershave on and looks presentable, but he's in a world of hurt. A world of hurt. The notechanger doesn't stop whirring, his hand as shaking and he's on an adrenaline rush tinged with misery. Usually heard muttering 'thank fuck for that' as his number finally comes in on the 100 stake.

    3) The doley. The doley always has a winning system. He makes 2,000 a week. He's a professional rouletter and knows every trick in the book.
Have you got a cigarette? Have you got a light? Spare some change mate.

    4) The professional snail. The professional snail is a mollusc of slimy demeanour. He usually crawls slowly and deliberately to the bookmakers. He has trouble getting through the door and must avoid trapping his tentacles in the hinges or getting trampled on by the many smelly foreign people. When he does get his money on, not only can he count him/herself lucky that he, she has both sets of reproductive organs, but shehe also has acute decryptable Wi-fi interception skills that enable 100% accurate prediction of the next number. This money enables purchase of premium crispy icerberg lettuces and firearms to defend themselves with when the smelly people crowd around.

As for casinos, barely ever visited in my life, about 20 up.

As for discipline, not as good as Superman, my vice is playing out silly lo-techs, you know which ones, which can waste time and be of small +EV.

Ob, you're the MattV of the on line world, if anyone could get back to back 'G0 All the Way' s on a roulette wheel, you could.

    Wowser. Long post.

I'm the desperate suit. Remember one Sunday missus couldn't be bothered cooking. I said I get a KFC. Dearest meal I've ever had. Big queue, next door to Corals. You know the rest.
