Like cp999, I objected to the suggestion, surely false, that he began winning sizeable sums of money immediately. Even the best general quizzer would take a while to get to the stage on a game where he was able to make serious sums, as cp999 says because of the need to learn spoilers and get into th...

Yes, Shaun did something football-related in every round on 'Mastermind'. Slightly controversial and I'm not sure it'd be allowed now. He's not a bad player, but by no means brilliant. cp999 is a little bit dismissive of Paul Sinha - he's at about Anne's strength, and stronger than Mark although not...

Like JG, I thought the suggestion he made £80 on his first day was unbelievable - certainly at any time since the mid-90s. Even for a naturally highly knowledgeable and skilled individual, in my view there's quite a lot of learning of spoilers, getting the hang of things etc. to be done before you c...

Thought I'd break cover to post to reset my account. I saw this story too and found it interesting. I'm impressed the guy has done well on 'The Colour Of Money' as it's not a game I've ever had much joy on (maybe that's because people were out there smashing it from the word go). I assume they've tw...

Been told to post something so has anyone seen the new 40p per play variant of BAM? There's an irritating new feature in it too, which appears later in the game.

I've been silent as I'm not playing much these days - have switched the focus to other quizzing pursuits as my income from SWPs had dropped to a level I considered unworthwhile (you'll recall I'm a part-time amateur, so have that luxury). I think we're probably nowadays in a situation where the bar ...

I've not heard of him Cool, no. I'm a regular in both the London quiz league and the national non-televised quiz circuit, and pretty well informed about the quiz-playing world generally, and I've neither met nor heard about any chap of the above name. I'd be slightly surprised if he had managed to m...

I've been told to post to keep my account active so thought I'd better. After six weeks or so of not playing any SWPs I ventured out recently. Played some of the new material - I thought Wizard of Oddz and Whack a Rabbit seem fairly tough although need to play them in an out-of-the-way location to b...

I've seen the rabbit based one on a local cabinet (it's been there a week or two) and thought it was neither brilliant nor rubbish - a reasonable mid-standard addition to GWHL cabinets, I guess. Not seen Wizard of Oz yet.

I think the point that a 40 year-old who's suddenly out of a job might struggle to find something new is a point that applies to most of us rather than solely to professional quiz machinists. Yes, I'm sure some of the big guns of the SWP world will be looking nervously at the state of the industry a...

That said, I'm cheered by the suggestion that there are some extant Jiggy Banks somewhere.

Interesting thread. I don't play enough nowadays to be able to give an informed view. Having said that, I have been working at my current office (in densely populated area of central London) for just over a year and in that time have had (I think) 13 machines within walking distance to play on at lu...

This guy sounds like it could be a player in the Quiz League of London NM - I'll not name him here but the hair, beanie, frequent but not enormously good play, are all suggestive.

My point really is if qm knows all the spoilers how come he doesnt pot it every time? If he doesnt know all the spoilers how does he pot it all? (i have jackpotted it once and it was childishly simple so Ill admit to being a biffer). Perhaps there is a special set of ultra spoilers after the second...
