There is definitely a trend towards localisation of the pro as it is becoming more and more unfeasible to travel distance. I play the machines nowadays for the love of playing, not for making a lot of dosh That was the whole point of my original question. "Localisation of the pro" is a co...

Yes, but I presume you aren't giving away your winnings to charity at the end of each day? I had understood based on your previous posts that machining was your main or indeed only form of income, and if enough of the machines disappear, there must be a point where it is no longer practical to play ...

Do you have a plan for what comes next, or does the machine loss rate have to get significantly worse for it to become a consideration? In the smaller towns near me - the ones where I can be pretty confident of knowing EVERY pub and machine, so can keep on top of all machine losses and pub closures ...

I found five quiz machines gone yesterday that had all been there on my previous visit to the same medium-sized town six months ago. All had been replaced by either a fruit machine or nothing at all - just an empty space where the machine used to stand. At this rate it's going to become odd in years...

It's frustrating. They have wasted whatever hours/days/weeks/months of development work it took to produce this one by making such a poor job of grading the questions. Unlike some games that are beyond help from the outset, this one at least had a chance at being a success but any of the regular pla...

I don't think the variable top prize (£5 or £10) is going to be much of a worry given how hard this game has been set from the very beginning - it's certainly hard enough to scare off the punters, and that is all that matters in the end. I suppose we should be grateful that there are clearly still a...

What is very noticeable for me these days is how unplayed most fruit machines are, most of the time. I play the quiz machines only, but this gives me a lot of time to observe how things are on 'the other side of the fence' and it is really common to see 6 or 7 machines in a pub and not one getting a...

If I ever found a quiz machine these days with £150 available for winnings, I would think I had died and gone to heaven! The one I 'emptied' last night had precisely £24 available to collect...

I'm not prepared to risk running up significant sums] I do collect sectionally, as you say - I don't wait for a bank of £20 to build up and then start to collect smaller prizes, although sometimes of course a £20 win on a single game is still possible, e.g. on Battleships. Given that, I would assum...

Those are indeed the other issues that the industry as a whole seems completely unable to either care about or respond to: - faulty coin mechanisms are common, and it's not just the general issue that none of them have been updated to accept the newer design of 10ps and 5ps - payout failures - anywh...

Seen one today that's lost Eliminator and Pointless amongst others. Think there were just 8 games available. I'm starting to see a few of these on my travels but they aren't widespread in my areas yet. What is much more of an issue is machines disappearing - I've just checked back and I have lost 2...

Has it occurred to anyone that the machines are moved away from areas where pros play them all the time to geographical areas where they dont go to? I went to a provincial university student union last week and there were 5 machines there. There aren't any general areas where pros won't play, I can...

That might have been true in the past but it can't possibly be the case now. I've had a quick look at my records and I reckon that since about the start of 2012 I have lost around 70 machines in my immediate area (within about 30 minutes driving distance), and that is in an area with relatively few ...

What does GWHL mean? Games Warehouse something? Yep - it just means G ames W are H ouse L imited: http://www.gwhl.co.uk/ As for the Pointless bug reported by HornyNick, I certainly haven't seen any evidence of this on my travels yet so hopefully it's just a one-off on that particular cabinet.
