Ok,but isn't 'nibbling' a reasonable strategy nowadays? As you say games have extensive defensive mechanisms which means specialising in one or two games mightn't be that sensible. There's often only a small amount in the float - I have no problem with it ending up in my pocket through a few differe...

If quiz machines are to have a future, then I think it's vital that they capture the interest of the new pub-going generation. In one of my first ever posts on here,I talked about the smartphone having a detrimental effect on quiz machine play (I don't mean by using it to look up answers, rather it be...

Keith Lemon taking over quiz machines now....great lol. Quiz machines located in Student areas/pubs always seem popular from my experience...I'd imagine on event nights when the pubs would be packed they'd be played a few times. . THIS:- Recently attended a quiz event at a University in the Midland...

I would like to see a Chase v Egghead match, using both formats. Imo Mark is the one who most resembles (in a quizzing sense!) what a good quiz machine pro would do. By that I mean he's very fast (i.e. highly conditioned reflexes and recall) but his knowledge isn't at the same level as Kevin or Pat...

Just casually having a couple of games with a quid and I managed to get to the prize round. Not quite sure how as I'm usually crap at general knowledge but happy days. The prize round has seemingly changed from what it used to be. Now landing in black is insta game over? Sure you used to get three ...

Firstly, Eggheads is a very poor quizzing format as a test of ability, as most of the questions are very easy with the odd difficult one thrown in. Consequently, he might beat me occasionally, which would, I assure you, be a nightmare. Equally consequently, I might beat Kevin occasionally. Neither ...

Great idea but let's face it - when Pointless is getting plays off a 60p JP there's not a cat in hell's chance of them risking a £20 JP never mind a £40 one. It amazes me that most games dont get sued for false advertising. One of the worst culprits is Pop Quiz. Get on there at the wrong time and a...

I was in the East Midlands for a family function at the weekend, so had the chance to revisit some old haunts from the days when I lived closer to the area. I'd already established that someone has sucked Derby and Nottingham dry, leaving a withered old husk for the rest of us to chew on, simply by...

I know Trevor, but haven't seen him for a long while. He drifted away from most forms of serious quizzing in the early 2000s, aside from his ongoing involvement with his book. He plays very occasionally in my quiz league but is by no means the force he was. At his peak he was a really strong player...
