OK, so we have a tube based machine, and you want to get the money out of the tubes by operating the solenoids the way that you used to be able to i.e. without taking the tubes out of the machine and simply tipping them on out. Firstly, I understand that you know hoe to enter the test routines? If s...

D'ya mean by the cowboy, or by the guy that fixed it? I'd be pi**ed off if I'd given that cowboy anything for a mis diagnosis, not knowing what he was talking about, and then thinking he can simply fob me off by saying it's e-proms, knowing that they're probably unobtainable now !!! But at least it'...

Your machine is quite old as it's running old Epoch technology, which hasn't been used for a while. It was replaced with a better system some years back. There is usually a sticker in the cabinet with a date on of some sort, that will give a clue. You'll find a jackpot of £250 can only have a stake ...

Epoch based systems are notoriously difficult to diagnose. Most manufacturers were satisfied with a single main board, but Maygay, in their infinite wisdom, decided to carve this into parts, giving us a main CPU plus several smaller boards for the lamps and switches, the reels, the hopper, and anoth...

Not the best fault descripton I've ever seen. In fact, I'm not quite sure what the problem is that you are trying to describe. Does it alarm atall? Is there an error message shown on the LED display? Who manufactured this machine and what technology is it running? If I were to hazard a guess, and it...

Sorry, I'm am not from your area and do not know of any decent engineers up that way either. I'm still inclined to suspect the PSU and not the e.proms. Bearing in mind your chap didn't fix your machine, I hope he didn't charge you too much. If I were you, I'd be inclined to post again, giving full d...

£5 for membership but thats for life eh? ~ A bargain, providing you live more than a couple of years.

Anyway, the real reason for this post, is that I'm looking for some of these fuse holders too ~ are you able to supply them still? If so, I'll let you know which sizes I need.

Thanks

It's very rare indeed for e.proms to simply pack up. The only real time they give any trouble is when people remove and re-fit them for some reason, and either break a "leg" when re-inserting them, or perhaps replacing them upside down. When a new machine is released, the manufacturer is m...

You've got the latest MPU5 power supply here. Some of the earlier ones had fuses on them that were prone to breaking their holders ~ not the actual fuses themselves. Your power supply is much better than these old ones. Without wanting to talk the bleeding obvious, there's an on/off switch on this n...

You're quite right, the connection on the main board isn't labelled up as note acceptor, but "serial port 2" and yes, you'll need a different loom in order to connect to this. A parallel NV4 connects to the hopper driver board (where I believe your loom is already connected) whilst a seria...

Presumably, there was a hole in which to fit the refil lock? Is so, there should be 2 unconnected wires close by, which when touched together, put the machine into refil mode, confirming that these are indeed the wires that you're looking for. These 2 wires then need to be connected to the back of t...

Try changing the reel driver board. If the error remains the same, after moving the reel, then this is the next thing to consider.
You've effectively eliminated the reel itself as being the problem here.

Got your pictures. Absolutely not a problem ~ I'll sort that for you early next week, but suspect you're making a problem here that doesn't exist. The traingular reels are not a silky smooth as the normal reels. With regards to the note acceptor ~ do you already have an NV4? If it doesn't have a key...
