I feel fortunate to be able to type this message with full sight... The solder iron arrived this morning, and so I proceeded to try to solder the new battery in. However, the solder didnt want to affix to the board connections, only the battery - very frustrating. So, i decided to apply enough solde...

Thanks! Full story as follows: Machine is stored in a conservatory, which can be very cold during winter. A few months back the machine started intermitantly turning on. The front lights would come on, but there would be no power to the board. This was, i assumed, a psu on its way out. The psu is st...

lol - yes, i made a note of the battery position prior to removing it. The domed side (-) is facing the four black bits directly next to where the battery sits.

I did initially think it was the psu at fault as it refuses to work when the room is cold - just makes an quiet electrical popping sound every second or so. It needs replacing, but i did put the psu from a different machine in this one, and the fault remained.......perhaps the psu damaged the mpu5 b...

The correct battery arrived today, but its still flashing 2xred then 12xgreen. While the new battery is not welded in, ive secured it enough with sellotape to be sure both contacts are made. I did notice a jumper on the board labelled 'bat', next to the battery. Does anyone know what this does? I re...

Morning all. I dont [yet] have any of the electrical gear (soldering iron, meter) as this is just a hobby. I just buy the odd machine on ebay, and up until now have had no problems. Ive ordered some of the renata batteries -same ones the board came with - so will give them a go when they arrive. If ...

for those also thinking of substituting batteries....dont. It didnt work :(

The same 2x red 12x green status light issue remains.

I'll order the correct battery on ebay and give that a try.

Before i go.....is there any chance the status light combination could be a result of something else?

Good evening guys. After trawling the highstreet, looking in at least 8 battery-selling shops for the correct battery, i couldnt find one........so instead i purchased a smaller 3v button cell (2032). Can i ask, will it be ok to install this one instead, as it is the same voltage? I expect the main ...

Done it. Managed to stick the knife in and twist it until the battery gave up its grip. Even left the battery firmly clips in place on the board :) It was mentioned in a previous post it was a 3.6v battery i was looking for......the one in this is only 3v. I expect its correct as its clearly the onl...

Lol.....they dont make things easy do they.

Knew i should have 'studied' electronics at school......i've never had to solder anything before.

Oh well, im guess ill be needing to buy a soldering iron with that new battery........perhaps im better off just buying a new mpu5 board!

Found it - Thanks.

Is it normal for the battery to be soldered in, or should it be easy to remove?? Mines going to require some careful work to remove it without snapping it off the pcb :?

Ive just had a look and cannot spot anything on the mpu5 board, so opened the case on the game card, with no sign of a battery there either. Also could not see one on the reel board or the one at the front controlling (i assume) the buttons. Sorry to be a pain, but are you able to advise which board...
