My point about buying a drink was simply along same lines as a tree falling in forest if no one is there to see it does it make a noise?

If you go in a large busy chain pub where no one is going to notice if you have bought a drink or not who is going to to give a toss?

Playing quiz machines is a perfectly legal and moral way of making money. A bit like being a pro poker player really. Presumably Pete has no objection to that. It is a bit "trollish" coming on a quiz machine forum and telling people who can make a living playing quiz machines they shouldn'...

I wasn't suggesting that you try it in a "local" type pub. The point I was making was that buying a drink that I do not really want is an operational prop not a moral imperative. If it is not necessary it is a waste of money.

The machines are there to screw money out of punters . so cynical. they aren't there to 'screw' anyone. they are there to entertain CUSTOMERS and a small cost. the huge majority of games played are by casual players who spend a £ with no expectation of monetary return. if you don't at least buy a s...

I dont have any problem with not buying a drink if I think it will go un-noticed. You should use your judgement. Buying a drink is purely an operational decision. The machines are there to screw money out of punters and I don't feel that I have any moral duty to buy a drink just to play on it. This ...

New DOND

Just seen the new version DOND. A cosmetic face lift with apprently most of the same questions. 50p and £1 versions in the same game. It would be interesting to know if they keep seperate banks.

I have recently seen several called Paragon Pro and as far as I can tell it the difference is purely cosmetic. I have seen them that are the same as Paragon 2 and Paragon 3i. The only apparent difference is a different coloured fascia/case.

Hi and Welcome. In answer to your question. I don't think there is much etiquette when it comes to playing quiz machines  It has been quite common in the past for pro players to buy machines just to learn them and then sell them on. The JPM version no longer appears on the "mainstream"...

How is it scored then? Since on normal DOND the machine controls what the qualifying score is and how many Qs you have to answer to to get it, and more importantly at what point the spoilers kick in.

I have wondered about how the points work. How come WaterGate has only got 126 having made 186 posts? Or is this a silly question? :)
