These Give Us A Break videos are fab - happy memories! Is this machine 'in the wild' somewhere or is it in someone's private collection?

The real reason that quiz machines are disappearing is that they are overplayed by pros. This isn't the issue, or at least it is only a very small part of the issue - the number of real pros still playing is tiny, even if you widen the definition of 'pro' to include those able to win on specific ga...

I only ever won £20 once on the original DOND, but I do remember from that time that very low points targets (was 11,000 the lowest possible?) didn't seem to provide any guarantee of a bigger prize. To pick up David Healy's original theme, I nabbed my first ever "top prize" on a slightly m...

Bloody hell, man - the suspense is killing us! ;-)

You do also realise that, now you have revealed its existence, you are going to have to post that All Time Top 100 as well (I assume it stops at 100, unless you have ranked every game you have ever played!).

Is it the Ind:e Cluedo game, i.e. the standard one rather than the short-lived one from a couple of years back where the moves were laid out round a circle? The only times I've ever JP'ed this were quite recently and both came out of the blue, i.e. rather than getting all eight rooms and 'forcing' t...

Not me, guv - if I'd have been involved in their testing, I'd have done something about the world's loudest warning siren that went off on me tonight for an alleged attempt at 'Note Fraud' - the Paragon in question was not taking coins, and the plug wasn't accessible for the usual 'turn off and on a...

I can vouch for both Nil Satis and cp999 as being truly excellent players, having met them both, although as one would expect, cp999 being a full-timer is performing at the very highest of levels which NS being a part-timer has not been able to equal other than on occasional titles. For me that ill...

'Keenness to play' translates as still needing the extra money! I do still travel reasonably widely and that is why I feel qualified to post on here at all - on many topics that interest people (e.g. politics, most sports, TV) I don't really have much of an opinion, certainly not a strong one anyway...

In theory less games should be played more but sadly I think that that genie has long been let out of the bottle, and you just can't go back to standalone machines or similar. People are used to far more choice generally than in the days when the quiz machine in the pub was still a relative novelty ...

I spotted a new low in machine content at the weekend - a 'Paragon Lite' with the following games in the Quiz Zone: - Million Pound Drop - Foxy Bingo - House of Tiny Treasures - Deal or No Deal (No Questions) and ... that was it! Four games and only one of them an actual quiz game. It's very hard to...

It's not Game Over yet but there certainly aren't many Try Agains left for the business. As you have noted, there isn't yet a full takeover by the rubbishy cut-down Paragons, and indeed in some of my locations they have appeared and then been replaced by a full menu Paragon again, but where they hav...

Without wishing to put words into his mouth for him, I think you'll find David was talking about the SWP/quiz machine world rather than the wider AWP/fruit machine world.

Spookily I have had my first few goes at a new game on a Paragon tonight and guess what it was...? Yep, Pointless. It has actually already been trailed for a little while on GWHL's redesigned website, so I assume it's one of theirs (and incidentally the same website also seems to confirm my guess th...
