Similar to Muddle's post, playing Pints make Prizes for a good year and not realising when it lights up in the bottom right hand corner that fills in some of the letters.

The amount of times I was a letter or two off winning a fiver or something and not realising it was lit up.....

Was in Huddersfield yesterday....popped into the 'spoons by the Station to find there were only 3 games on....Pointless, pub quiz and one another. Must've been a technical glitch as the screen display didn't even look complete.

That's pretty good....about 6.70 is about the best I've won on there.

Plenty of others places still have them...pub chains like Hungry Horses, Fayre and Square, some Flaming Grills and Greene Kings etc. The quiz machine world dosen't stop and end with Wetherspoons although certainly the new ones opening don't have machines in them so looks like a policy from above.
